Whole Chicken - Pastured Heritage Chicken
Our heritage style chickens are old-style birds raised the way chickens have been grown for centuries; slowly, with plenty of space to move around our pastures finding insects and nibbling on grasses. They take about 50% longer to finish than do the Cornish Cross chickens. The fact that they are more active means they develop a higher muscle density which offers much more flavor. However, these birds require a slower cooking method to allow the meat time to become tender. They are perfect for slow roasting, any type of crockpot recipe, soups and broths.
By the bird:
- X-Small ~2.85 lbs.
- Small ~3.0 lbs.
- Medium ~3.5 lbs.
- Large ~4.0+ lbs.
Our meat birds are fed only organic, non-GMO feed. All our birds are processed humanely in a state inspected facility. We personally transport them from our farm to the processor and back.
